Sparks North Brewer Take Wilson A2000 Memorial Day Championship

A double-play, and then a simple groundout had Sparks North Brewer launching gloves and hats across the infield. The impressive 9-3 beatdown over GRB Stiks in the top of the sixth inning spawned the well deserved moment of celebration, after suiting up for five games in three days — including four straight wins to close the weekend — at the Primetime Wilson A2000 Memorial Day Championships in Joliet.

Sparks didn’t just win the weekend - they took over like maniacs on a mission! And when the fourth inning hit? Total destruction.

Sparks put up five runs in a flash and turned a tight battle into a full-blown avalanche. Vinny A fired the opening shot with a clutch RBI single before Ethan B brought home another run during a chaotic sequence on the bases. Austin R smoked an RBI single to the outfield, Camden T hammered home another run, and Jake H delivered the finishing blow with a clutch RBI to cap the inning. GRB reluctantly scrambled everywhere on the field to stop the bleeding.

Earlier in the game, Sparks answered immediately after falling behind. Quinn M ripped an RBI single to get the comeback rolling before Jack A straight-up nuked a two-run homer to left field, flipping the game upside down. The Sparks dugout could be heard absolutely losing it three fields away! Then there was the aggressive base running. Healy L, Quinn, and Austin each swiped multiple bags as the team piled up six stolen bases, forcing hurried throws and rushed decisions from the defense.

The lineup stayed active from top to bottom on both sides of the ball. Cole S worked key at-bats, Connor K added huge defensive plays, Evan S produced a run, and Jack, and Vinny came through with timely hits.

On the mound, Ethan delivered one of the biggest performances of the day in relief, shutting the door with 3.2 scoreless innings while striking out three. Healy started on the bump, striking out two over 2.1 solid innings.

The finals victory capped off a weekend of tournament games packed with elite talent. A 2-4 opening loss to the Devils was the only blemish, as Sparks racked up 4 wins and piled up a ridiculous 42 runs on the weekend.
