YVITS 10U Black Yankees Ignite at Memorial Day Tournament

The final out came and YVITS 10U Black Yankees erupted out of the dugout and took for the field! A wild 17-14 comeback win over Geneva Vikings Blue in the bottom of the fifth inning sparked a massive celebration at the 2026 PG Windy City Memorial Day Classic in New Lenox after a weekend packed with offense, chaos, and nonstop action. YVITS had been punched early, buried in a four-run hole by the second inning — and then absolutely detonated in response.

The third inning changed everything.

Trailing 7-4, the Black Yankees unloaded an eight-run avalanche that completely shifted the momentum. Jerell T hammered a clutch two-run double on a full count before coming back later in the inning with another hit as YVITS turned the bases into complete mayhem. Neil D ripped a huge day at the plate, driving in four runs while collecting two hits, and the middle of the lineup just kept pouring gasoline on the fire.

Dave R stayed all over the game with two hits and two RBIs, Monroe M collected two more knocks while flying around the bases, and Randall M delivered a pair of hits of his own as YVITS piled up 15 hits and an eye-popping 20 stolen bases. Every time Geneva looked ready to settle down, another runner was already swiping second or charging home.

And the speed? Ridiculous.

Randall, Jerell, Liam J, Monroe, Dave, Brandon W, and Logan T all stole multiple bases as YVITS turned the game into a track meet. Brandon also added a hit and scored three runs, while Aaron T battled through key at-bats and helped keep innings alive. Tharaoh J stayed active defensively in left field as the lineup kept rotating pressure onto Geneva inning after inning.

Even after Geneva kept swinging back, YVITS never blinked. Neil grabbed the win in relief, Jerell came out of the bullpen to help stabilize things late, and Dave shut the door to secure the save and send the Yankees into celebration mode.

The tournament itself became a complete offensive showcase for YVITS, who rolled through the weekend with four straight wins while stacking runs in bunches.
