Dragons Elite Loads the Bases, Then Isabella B. Explodes

Dragons Elite 10U 2033-West Boca kept loading the bases until Isabella B. decided to unload them.

Walks created the mess. Speed made it worse. Then Isabella smoked a line drive into right field and took off.

She never stopped.

By the time the ball made its way back toward the infield, Isabella had raced all the way around for an inside-the-park grand slam, delivering the biggest swing in Dragons Elite’s 10-2 victory over Owls 10U.

The four-run blast came in the second inning, but Dragons Elite had been causing trouble from the very start.

Delilah B., Brooke B. and Sofia G. opened the bottom of the first with three straight walks. Suddenly, the bases were packed and the Owls had nowhere to put the next runner.

A passed ball brought Delilah home with the tying run. Then Karoline M. lifted a single into the outfield that scored Brooke and helped Sofia race home on an error.
Just like that, a 1-0 deficit had turned into a 3-1 Dragons Elite lead.

The inning still was not finished.

Karoline scored on another passed ball, Juliana C. came home on a bases-loaded walk, and Dragons Elite carried a 5-1 advantage into the second inning. The team drew six walks in the frame, putting runners everywhere and forcing the defense to make play after play.

The Owls scored once in the top of the second to cut the lead to 5-2.

Dragons Elite answered fast.

Delilah walked. Brooke ripped a hard ground-ball single. Sofia drew another walk.
Bases loaded. Nobody out. Isabella coming up.

That was a bad combination for the Owls.

Isabella drilled the ball into right field and flew around the bases, bringing home all three runners before scoring herself. Four runs crossed the plate, and the lead jumped to 9-2 in a flash.

Karoline added another single, stole second and third, then scored when Katherine A. knocked a ground-ball hit back through the middle. Karoline finished 2-for-2 with two runs, an RBI and three stolen bases. Katherine also collected two hits and stole three bags.

She was even tougher in the circle.

Katherine pitched all three innings, allowed only two hits and struck out six. She closed the game with two strikeouts and a lineout in a perfect third inning.

Dragons Elite finished with six hits, nine walks and 10 runs in only two trips to the plate.
And when the bases became crowded, Isabella found the quickest way to clear them.
