Pennock’s Six RBIs Power Community Braves in 22-5 Beatdown

Max Pennock needed four swings to cover nearly every corner of the baseball field.

Two doubles. A triple. Then a home run.

By the time he finished, the Community Varsity Braves had turned Tuesday’s game against Wills Point into a 22-5 blowout. Pennock went 4-for-4, scored five times and drove in six runs during an afternoon when nearly everything he hit found open grass—or disappeared beyond it.

His first swing helped erase an early deficit.

Wills Point scored three runs in the top of the first, but Community answered immediately. Chase Pettay reached to begin the bottom half, and Pennock ripped a line-drive double into left to bring home the Braves’ first run. A wild pitch, an RBI single from Andrew Meazle and a bases-loaded walk pushed Community in front, 4-3.

That was only the warmup.

After Wills Point tied the game in the second, the Braves sent a wave of hitters to the plate and scored 10 times. Pennock opened the inning with another double. He later returned with the bases loaded and launched a three-run triple to center, stretching the lead to 12-4.

By then, he was putting together a game no pitcher wanted any part of.

Cutter Nix delivered three hits and drove in two runs. Meazle collected three RBIs, while Pettay finished with two hits and scored twice. Rocky Turner added a triple of his own as Community piled up 18 hits and received contributions from nearly every part of the lineup.

The Braves added four more runs in the third. Nix’s two-run double supplied the biggest blow, and another run crossed on a wild pitch as the advantage grew to 18-4.
Pennock still had one more swing left.

He stepped in during the fourth and sent a fly ball over the fence in left for a two-run homer. The blast brought home Community’s 22nd run and capped a performance featuring four hits, 11 total bases and damage to every part of the outfield.

Community’s pitching settled in after the rocky opening. Robbie Hill earned the win, allowing one run across 3⅓ innings, and Jackson Myre recorded the final three outs.
Wills Point added a solo homer in the fifth, but the game’s biggest swings already belonged to Pennock.

He reached second twice, raced into third and finished by jogging all the way home.
